Intention:
Let us keep our eyes fixed on the New Jerusalem, where death will be no more. Scripture:
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" --Revelation 21:4-5
Reflection:
Every activity we undertake in defense of the sanctity of life is prophetic, inasmuch as it points to the day when "death will be no more." Every victory we have when an act of abortion is prevented is prophetic of that day when death itself will be definitively conquered. Every triumph of grace in this world, whereby someone is brought to see the value of life and given the strength to welcome it, is a breaking into our history of that definitive future in which the old order of things will have passed, and all things will be made new. As pro-life warriors, we must keep our eyes fixed on heaven, and our hearts secure in the hope that the day is coming when all evil will be conquered. It is the future that shapes the present; it is victory that informs the battle; it is the destination that determines the journey. Daily, we are called to reflect on heaven. When we weep, we are to think of the day when every tear will be wiped away. When we face the destructive power of death, we are to think of the day when death is swallowed up in victory. When we labor against abortion, we are to think of the day when we will have the rest and peace of the final triumph of life. Heaven is as real as earth, and its joys will be as real as our present sorrows. Prayer:
Father, you are the God of hope. Your word fills us with the vision of the world to come, when every tear will be wiped away, and death will be no more. Father, how we need that hope, how we are strengthened by that vision! Keep our hearts focused on heaven, and diligent in the labors of earth. As we struggle against the culture of death, root our souls in the assurance of victory. We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen. Fr. I received this from my friend Mary Murphy and wanted to share it with you. It doesn't matter whether the story or picture is true, but it certainly is inspiring to many of us including Bishop Wenski of Orlando! Deacon John We don't know why John Paul II wanted to hide this picture for years. The Vatican published this picture recently, for first time. This picture was taken by one of his security guards just when the Pope was attacked and was falling down in his Papamobil. You can see the pain in his face. Take a look at the above picture. You can see Mother Mary holdingJohn Paul II in Her arms when he was shot in 1981. This happened on May 13, 1981. Pope John Paul II was shot as he arrived in St. Peter’s Square to speak to the people who had gathered there. When he was shot, he was holding the rosary, which he always carried. When he fell to the ground, out of nowhere, a woman rushed to his side and embraced him. That pic is shown above. The picture is said to have been taken by one of the gathered people who was busy taking Pope’s pics with his camera. The woman vanished as quickly as she appeared. The gunman was apprehended in the square and sentenced to life in prison. The pope was critically wounded but survived after surgery and a long recovery. The surprising fact is that all the bullets passed just past his vital internal organs. When he recovered finally, the first thing Pope asked for was his rosary. When he got it in his hands, he said that he felt Mother Mary directing the bullets’ path through him.Sure, John Paul II was always in the habit of praying the rosary regularly. He had once said “The best prayer I like is the Rosary”. Joaquin Navarro Valls, who is the one spokesman from The Vatican, said that they made a lot of studies for years of this incredible picture and of course about the quality of the developing of the picture because when it was developed nobody could see very well because the image was not clear. Finally, and after so many controls and by looking and checking by all the experts in photography (around the world), they decided that there were no tricks in it and today they give us this beautiful gift from our Mother of God. You can see the Mother of God holding John Paul II in her arms. Beautiful right? I don't know whether You will believe me or not. But many do.. And among those who believed, Bishop Thomas Wenski recreated the picture on a glass window at his Florida residence. You can see that below… Posted via email from deaconjohn's posterous

Topic: The Example of the Saints Quote: St. Pio of Pietrelcina "Love Our Lady and make her loved." Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate: 2001), 112. Meditation: Father Stefano Manelli, FI "Love moves people to speak of the one they love. We know that the Church's greatest orators and writers have spoken, written, and sung Our Lady;s praises with tireless zeal and love. We may cite, for example, St. Ephrem, St. John Damascene, St. Bernard, St. Alphonsus Liguori. But there has not been a Saint and there will never be any true devotee of Mary who does not feel a need to share his love of Our Lady with others. In big ways or small, the true devotee does all that he can to accomplish this in accord with the inspirations and talents he has received." Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate: 2001), 112. Resolution: Today, I will pray for the opportunity to share my love of Our Lady with others, I will be particularly careful to cultivate joyful and pleasant demeanor. Who would want to hear of Our Lady from me if I am sullen, sour or impolite? Marian Vow: Father Manelli "In order to move souls to love Mary, St. Maximilian ventured to make great, self-effacing personal sacrifices. But he went ahead undaunted, carrying on with hard work and privation: fainting spells on the train, having to celebrate Mass while supported by two friars, repeatedly coughing up blood, becoming emaciated, even proving himself unpopular with certain persons. He never stopped. His love for the Immaculate would not let him rest from his feverish activity." Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate: 2001), 114. I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Thanks be to God for graces received. __._,_.___ . __,_._,___ "May the Lord grant all your prayers!" Friends,
This is why we pray, folks. I’ll let Ryan (from UW-GB’s “Phoenix for Life” group) tell about what happened last Thursday night/Friday morning in his own words. Thank you, Ryan.
+++++++++++++++++
This is Ryan Lindner. On every Thursday night from around 11 till about 4 am my buddies and I have been going to pray at the abortion clinic. It started with just 3 of my buddies, but last night we were crowding the sidewalk with 10 people. We start out our night by going to the Saint Anthony of Padua Chapel out in the woods at UWGB and just pray together to prepare ourselves for the night. Last night we had the pleasure of walking with John Cavil right after midnight, and Monsignor Klister drove by and stopped to pray a decade of the rosary with us. (After all, it’s out of the norm to see 11 young adults walking in the rain, praying to end abortion at midnight). Before we even finished the creed a lady crossed the street to come see what we were doing and read our signs and after she saw what we were doing she was on the verge of tears and told us that, many years ago she had an abortion. She told us all the emotional pain she went through after this abortion and how sorry she was that she had it and was so moved that we were out there in the pouring rain praying to end abortion. After this confession, Monsignor laid hands on her and prayed a prayer of forgiveness and absolution . There is no doubt in my mind that this was a miracle. To have a large enough group to call Monsignor’s attention to us and have him come pray just one decade of the rosary and for that lady to have come at that time and have the courage to reveal something so intimate. I know this was a miracle. The first Thursday when my buddies and I started this routine I remember asking God to fill the Saint Anthony Chapel with people willing to come with us. Last night there were not enough chairs for us all. We were packed in that tiny Chapel and we prayed hard there and when we got to the clinic. I thought I should Let you know this. God Bless, Ryan Lindner
Thanks to Mary Murphy for this story!

Susan B. Anthony List President on Dede Scozzafava's Endorsement of Democrat Bill Owens in NY-23: "When a GOP candidacy is not based on fundamental conservative values, the party and the principles are inevitably betrayed at critical moments." WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 /Christian Newswire/ -- This afternoon Dede Scozzafava, former Republican Party candidate for Congress in New York's 23rd Congressional District, endorsed Democrat Candidate Bill Owens In response, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued the following statement:
"By her actions today Dede Scozzafava has confirmed why it was so important for conservatives and people who care about the GOP to get involved in this race.
"Doug Hoffman's candidacy is based upon the core principles of limited government, lower taxes and strong family values.
"When a GOP candidacy is not based on fundamental conservative values, the party and the principles are inevitably betrayed at critical moments.
"In this race and in future races, we will stand for the candidates who firmly believe in these fundamental American ideals. These principles are not only right, they are the path to electoral victory."
The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, in partnership with the National Organization for Marriage, is organizing an independent conservative, pro-Hoffman grassroots ground program in the district. Field staff are recruiting over 200 volunteers to staff polls on election day, canvass churches, and distribute literature, lapel stickers and yard signs across the district. The pro-life Susan B. Anthony List has spent over $125,000 in the race so far, including over $50,000 in pro-Hoffman radio ads.
The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund joined the Club for Growth to be one of the first political action committees to endorse Doug Hoffman for Congress on September 28, 2009. The fund supports pro-life female candidates, as well as pro-life male candidates who run against female candidates in favor of abortion rights.
The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of Americans, over 167,000 residing in all 50 states, dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics. Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
