One great act of mercy that we should perform is to pray for the dead. The Church observes All Souls Day today as the living remember their dearly departed. The Lord asks us, the living, to continuously offer prayers, masses and sacrifices, drawing from the treasury of the Church, for departed souls. "Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice," Jesus told St Faustina. In fact, the Lord encouraged St Faustina, the Apostle of Divine Mercy, remember the souls in purgatory. He told her: "Enter into purgatory often, because (souls) need you there (from the Diary of St Faustina, entry 1738). The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches: "All who die in God's grace and friendship, but still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation; but after death they undergo purification, so as to achieve the holiness necessary to enter the joy of heaven."
We, the living, can assist the dead by imploring God's infinite mercy for them. Not just during this day, but always - as we receive the holy sacraments, pray, perform sacrifices - we must be in communion with the suffering souls.St Faustina once saw in a vision the souls in purgatory, and she saw their great need for our assistance. She wrote in her diary (entry 20): "I saw my Guardian Angel, who ordered me to follow him. In a moment I was in a misty place full of fire in which there was a great crowd of suffering souls. They were praying fervently, but to no avail, for themselves; only we can come to their aid. The flames which were burning them did not touch me at all. My Guardian Angel did not leave me for an instant. I asked these souls what their greatest suffering was. They answered me in one voice that their greatest torment was longing for God. I saw Our Lady visiting the souls in purgatory. The souls call her 'The Star of the Sea.' She brings them refreshment. I wanted to talk to talk with them some more, but my Guardian Angel beckoned me to leave. We went out of that prison of suffering. (I heard an interior voice) which said, 'My mercy does not want this, but Justice demands it.' Since that time, I am in closer communion with the suffering souls."

REFLECTION by Father Ted – October 27, 2009: My dearest Lord Jesus, on this day, 79 years ago, my brother was born. He was the 2nd child born to our mother. I am the 3rd. We are not only her beloved children and the beloved children of our father. We are Your beloved children. As You have so frequently reminded me we are all Your beloved children whom You created through our human parents to experience Your eternal love. Both of my siblings have died. Both, I believe, have received Your Merciful judgment. I am the only one who is still struggling to live on earth – awaiting also Your Merciful judgment. I still have to seek to do Your Will. I still have to deal with my weaknesses. I still have to resist temptations. I still have to experience the seductions of the devil – even daily. Although he is cunning, although he is brighter than me, with Your Merciful help, I can resist his strategies and resist giving into his evil enticements. I can succeed only if I take advantage of all the graces that You offer to me – which are available through my daily prayers, through my various acts of self-denial, through my reception frequently of the sacraments of the Holy Eucharist and of Penance. I have learned – sometimes the hard way, that the evil one strives to persuade me, as he does to others, not to pray as often as You prompt me to do. I know that he strives to urge me not to celebrate Holy Mass as often as I do. I know that he does not want me to visit You and to adore You in the Blessed Sacrament as frequently as I do. I know that he does not want me to confess my sins as often as You want me to do. When I listen to him, and do not take advantage of the helps that You offer to me, I lack the spiritual strength that I need in order to resist his temptations. I sin, because I have not accepted the graces that You provide me with; because I lack the spiritual strength that You provide me through prayer, sacrifices, the Holy Eucharist and Penance. Lord, may I do all that You ask of me – so that I will not only resist the temptations of the devil, but above all, so that I will become the holy man, the holy priest that You desire me to be; so that I will be able to assist my other brothers and sisters in being able to resist the devil’s temptations and becoming the saints that You want them to be as well. Jesus, send us Your Spirit. Enkindle in us the fire of Your Divine Love. May we come to know You, to love You, to serve You each day so that we may be with You and my family in Your heavenly home. Does Our Lady See You As A Nonbeliever? I t was a clear, cold morning in Medjugorje for Mirjana’s 2nd of the month apparition this November 2nd at the Blue Cross in Medjugorje. Pilgrims were gathering well before 5:00 a. m., with some sleeping there through the night, in spite of the fact that the temperature was at about 32 degrees with frost present in the village. Rosaries were prayed throughout the morning in preparation for the apparition. When Mirjana arrived, there was a distinct change in mood, a heightened awareness of the crowds in anticipation of Our Lady’s arrival, especially in light of the seriousness of the recent second of the month messages. Mirjana’s disposition and preparation for the apparition were also very serious. She prayed along with the Rosary being recited in a very reserved manner. It seemed quite sudden that Mirjana knelt up more erect as Our Lady appeared to her beginning at 8:42 a.m. Mirjana began with a smile and then began to listen intensely. Mirjana spent most of the time during this apparition in that manner, listening and nodding very much with some occasional words spoken back as she knelt before Our Lady. Her look was as of one trying to understand something. She didn’t display as much change in expression as she normally does, just a couple brief smiles, but mostly just this “searching” look and responding with frequent nods. When Our Lady left, Mirjana remained within herself for a few minutes silently praying. The apparition lasted for about five minutes. Following is the message:

Message to Mirjana Soldo Given on the day for Non-believers “Dear children; Also today I am among you to point you to the way that will help you to come to know God’s love, the love of God Who permitted you to call Him Father and to perceive Him as Father. I ask of you to sincerely look into your hearts and to see how much you love Him. Is He the last to be loved? Surrounded by material goods, how many times have you betrayed, denied and forgotten Him? My children, do not deceive yourselves with worldly goods. Think of your soul because it is more important than the body, cleanse it. Invoke the Father, He is waiting for you. Come back to Him. I am with you because He, in His mercy, sends me. Thank you.” Does Our Lady See You As A Nonbeliever? By A Friend of Medjugorje When the apparitions began in 1981, Mirjana relayed that she perceived God as Someone who was stern. He was there to punish. He was distant from us. Mirjana did not perceive Him as a “Father”, much less called Him “Father” with the comprehension of what “father” means. In this way of being a believer, Mirjana had unbelief in her. The beginning messages for nonbelievers on the Second of the Month were very defined and were clearly for nonbelievers. Mirjana said Our Lady defined nonbelievers as those who do not know the love of God. This is what Mirjana told us. She said that the people who we believe are nonbelievers, such as atheists, are really people who do not know the love of God. This pattern of the Second of the Month message went on for some time. Our Lady then began to unveil that She was speaking to us, the believers in these messages. She was speaking to us, the children close to Her, and She began to ‘point’ out that much unbelief exists in our own hearts. This was a shocker for many for we thought it was for “them” the nonbelievers as opposed to “us” the converted. Now, many are plainly seeing we have different aspects of unbelief within us. At the same time, many are denying they have unbelief in themselves. Our Lady is pointing these aspects out to purify us. Our Lady wants us to be believers in God, in God as a Father. She wants to teach us who God is, just as She had to teach Mirjana who carried unbelief in her when she did not understand God as a loving Father. Mirjana’s unbelief was transformed by coming to know God’s love through Our Lady. She became more fully a believer and began to perceive God as a Father. Still, many continue to think we, the followers of Our Lady, are the believers and those who are atheist, agnostics, etc. are the nonbelievers. Yet in today’s November 2, 2009 message Our Lady says, “…Also today I am among you to point you to the way that will help you to come to know God’s love, the love of God…” The material culture of the world has permeated the believer to form in the heart many aspects of unbelief. Our Lady asks us all, the believers, do we really love God first? Do we love Him last? Are you surrounded by material things which have caused you at times to forget Him? So many ‘things’ that have caused you to betray Him as Judases, through idolatry? How many today will you see holding the Rosary? How many today will you see reading their Bibles? In contrast, how many will you see holding and fondling electronic gadgets? Little gods, gods of your lives, gods who rule over the believers and nonbelievers alike, gods that have your true devotion, that would cause you to be shocked if you sincerely looked into your heart to see how much do you really love God above these things. Will you read the paper today, listen to the news, read a magazine? How much time reading the Bible? Which of those tells you of the love of God? A great deception is taking place with believers. That deception often makes the believer, a nonbeliever. When the contrast of the way we live and the way the world lives is nearly indistinguishable what makes us different? Our character is supposed to be in total contrast with the culture. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn’t’ make it okay. Everybody else doing it does not give legitimacy. Rather it becomes a deception of legitimacy. This is not to say material things are not to be used, but rather it’s how we use them that determine if they are hurting or helping us towards eternal life. Our Lady just recently told us, on January 25, 2009, the guiding principle in using worldly things: January 25, 2009 “…for all worldly things to be a help for you to draw closer to God the Creator …”
Evaluate the use of “worldly things” in your life. Are they drawing you closer to God, or are they a hindrance to you in your relationship with Your Father? The character of the individual whose way of life contradicts the cultures’ direction, is the definition of the messages of Our Lady of Medjugorje. See Below Pictures  Out of all these faces, only one will look up in a moment’s time, and be transfigured by something no one else sees. Mirjana is seen here, kneeling at the foot of the Blue Cross, head bowed in prayer. Her mother, who always attends her daughter’s apparitions, is near her, holding the notebook that Mirjana will record the words of Our Lady given today. For anyone who has never been to an apparition with Mirjana, it is difficult to describe the amount of people who continually press into this small space so to be able to get a glimpse of Mirjana in ecstasy. Mirjana is at the centerpoint of this attention, and the crowds spread out from this point beyond what a camera can record, thousands and thousands of people who come hungry to experience a little bit what only Mirjana can see.  This is the smile of Mirjana that tells the pilgrims near her that Our Lady has come. It is full of love and tenderness, but absent is the total transformation of joy we often expect to see in the visionaries when Our Lady appears. Instead, what we don’t expect to see, at least at the entrance of Our Lady in this apparition to Mirjana, but what is also evident on Mirjana’s face, is pain and tiredness. Our Lady said just one month earlier in her last message to Mirjana, “…As I look at you, my heart seizes with pain. Where are you going my children?”…Mirjana seems to know that Our Lady will not be speaking joyful things to her today. Mirjana’s face, reveals if only a little, perhaps, the expression on Our Lady’s face. Our Lady comes to us full of the love and tenderness of a mother reunited with her children, but She cannot hide Her sorrow and concern of seeing Her children traveling down a path that keeps them distant from the Heart of God.  Mirjana is seen here intently listening throughout the apparition today, taking in the words of Our Lady. Our Lady’s message today focused entirely on God, the Father. Three times She spoke the name “Father” but amazingly referred to God and God’s love more than 12 times in this short message. She speaks not only of God’s love but also His pain in being “betrayed, denied and forgotten .” What a beautiful picture Our Lady paints of God, who in His greatness “permits” us to “perceive Him as Father”. Who even after being hurt by His creatures, is always waiting patiently for us to come return to Him. But we who follow Our Lady know and understand that the clock is ticking towards the appointed hour when God must bring correction to our world that blatantly ignores His existence even as it uses and often abuses the material goods that He, as a good Father, provides for His children.

On October 30, atheist Christopher Hitchens appeared on Dennis Miller’s Internet radio show condemning Mother Teresa, yet again. Here is one of his choice statements: “The woman was a fanatic and a fundamentalist and a fraud, and millions of people are much worse off because of her life, and it’s a shame there is no hell for your bitch to go to.” Catholic League president Bill Donohue responded today: I once told Hitchens that one of the real reasons he hates Mother Teresa has to do with his socialist ideology: he believes the state should care for the poor, not voluntary organizations, and he especially loathes the idea of religious ones servicing the dispossessed. Indeed, he sees in Mother Teresa the very embodiment of altruism, a virtue he cannot—with good reason—fully comprehend. The fact of the matter is that socialism is the greatest generator of poverty known to mankind, and Mother Teresa did more to heal and rescue its victims than anyone in the modern era. This explains why she is adored by the people who knew her best—the men and women of India (she is second only to Gandhi as the nation’s most revered person). Hitchens is positively obsessed by Mother Teresa, and that is a very telling commentary on his psyche. She is a constant reminder that reason without faith is a dark hole. CMA CEO Dr. David Stevens said, "This legislation is an overdose. With this massive legislation, we are getting much more than is actually needed to fix our healthcare system. What we need is a targeted reformation of areas needing reform, but this legislation is an attempt to totally transform our healthcare system into a government-run system that dictates what healthcare treatment each patient will receive. "The legislation introduced last week is coming to a vote way too fast. We have one chance to get this right, and leaders in Congress are trying to push a bill through in a few days that will impact one-sixth of our economy. It is bitter medicine that most people don't want, and taking it fast will not change that. "The legislation is also ineffective and will increase costs rather than lower costs. It will hurt efficiency and increase bureaucracy. It will interfere with the physician-patient relationship and lead to the delay and denial of healthcare based solely on cost. "The legislation also has serious side effects. In a radical shift in U.S. policy, under this legislation the government will suddenly be funding abortion on demand. And if abortion advocates prevail, the government ultimately will force health care professionals to participate in abortions. "Physicians are so upset about this takeover of healthcare that hundreds of thousands have threatened to leave medicine if it passes. Forty-five percent of all physicians polled say they're ready to leave medicine if healthcare overhaul passes. Ninety-five percent of faith-based healthcare professionals are ready to leave medicine if their conscience rights are weakened. In a larger sense, the graphic would encourage discussion and debate on "Choice's" role in abortion.
What the Choicekills effort can contribute to the anti- abortion movement is a bold new idea that can work to change the image of Choice from a positive to a negative as a result of its role as a facilitator of abortion.

Typical opinions of young women who have been enticed to abort their babies portray a variety of regrets stemming from the deceiving image that Choice had given them. Website visitors are encouraged to keep other young women from falling prey to the seduction of Choice and know for sure that "Freedom of Choice" is far from free. Inexpensive bumper stickers and T- shirts are offered as a way to carry the life-saving message to their community. Young men are encouraged to assist their female friends in the effort.
Choicekills was originated to reduce abortions by providing a simple idea with which the Anti-abortion effort could pursue a common goal --- disabling their common enemy, "Choice," killer of millions still to be conceived. Choicekills hope is to bring back public interest in the abortion issue by insulting abortion's closest ally and challenging its claim to fairness. —Ed. November 1, 2009 Jesus My dearest apostle, how pleased I am with your efforts. Shall I tell you all that pleases Me? I am pleased that you accept My words and welcome them into your heart. I am pleased because as you welcome My words into your heart, you welcome My graces into your life. Many come and go in My service. But you do not do this. You remain in My service. It will take eternity for Me to show you My gratitude. When I say service, you no doubt think practically. You think of work, of heaven’s work, which includes the tasks that you complete for Me and for others in My name. This is good. I so badly need those who are willing to work for Me. But when I say service, I want you to also think of love. You see, we need bridges built that will transport God’s children safely into My heart. But the invitation to cross the bridge from isolation to the love of God will be extended through your love, through My presence in your heart. My love will flow out from you to others and they will find out that the wounds they suffer are vulnerable to love. Wounds melt away when they are exposed to love. Love, rooted in Me, is always selfless. It is quiet rather than boisterous. It waits patiently, willing to accept suffering for the greater good of the soul in front of it. The greater good will always be reconciliation with Me but this reconciliation between the Creator and the created is deeply personal and takes place in the privacy of the soul. Dearest children of God, you have been chosen to accept My love and to use that love to draw others back to Me. I am watching closely as you struggle for greater holiness. I am watching closely as you advance. I am with you in your own suffering and I allow loneliness for every serving apostle because it is only through this loneliness that you understand how badly you need Me. Your loneliness then becomes a heavenly port in a storm of activity through which you draw graces down into the world. You see that you suffer. When you return to Me forever, you will see that your suffering, accepted in My name, advanced not only My intentions, but yours. Be at peace, little apostle. I am involved in all that occurs in your life. I am with you. I will not leave you.

We Share Union with God 
May 4, 1994 R. We stand strong if we love God because we can be united when we do love Him. I have a bond with you and I love you intimately in a way that I do not love another because we share this union with God. It is in God and only in Him that we are made one. He loves us. He gave His life for love of us. He shows us the way to love. When two people love in Him there is not division but they are closer because they are both open. It is in loving together that we are united. I can love you even if you don't love God, but we do not have as great a bond because we are not both open to His love. To be strong and stand against attack, we must truly love at the Center. This is the Center where God's love will reign and be our strength. We must put aside any differences with our brothers and try to settle them only in love and praying for wisdom, understanding, and counsel from the Holy Spirit to know what God wants us to know. We need God to be our loving Father, Jesus to be our loving Spouse, the Holy Spirit to love and give us His gifts, and Mary to be our most loving mother, to mother us as she mothered Jesus. What warmth in our soul! This will light the darkened night because we are filled with the love of God and we can give love. Bathe us in Your love, God. Blessed Lady, be by our side.  Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The pro-life movement is unified in its opposition to the House health care reform bill Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled last week because of its abortion funding. In a new letter to members of Congress, the National Right to Life more exactly spells out what is at stake in the votes expected later this week. Members of the House could hold multiple votes on health care as soon as Thursday -- with votes coming on the rules for debate, one massive amendment from Pelosi and ruling Democrats, and a vote on the bill itself. When they vote, the National Right to Life Committee says their decisions will affect the status of government funding of abortions for years to come. NRLC has one main message it hopes lawmakers and pro-life advocates will understand before the votes take place: "The bill would create a national federal agency health program, the 'public option,' and would explicitly authorize that federal agency program to pay for elective abortions." "This federal agency program will pay for abortions with federal funds (which are the only kind of funds that federal agencies can spend)," the letter, provided to LifeNews.com, spells out. NRLC notes that pro-life Representatives Bart Stupak and Joe Pitts have "proposed an amendment that would apply the long-established principles of the 'Hyde Amendment' to the federal 'public option' program, but Democratic leaders have made it clear that their Rule will not allow a floor vote" on it. President Barack Obama Violating Pledge For No Abortion Funding in Health Care
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- During an address to Congress in September, President Barack Obama promised there would be no abortion funding in his health care plans. However, a new report today indicates Obama has been personally lobbying members of Congress to vote for the current bills, all of which fund abortions. During the speech, Obama said, "One more misunderstanding I want to clear up -- under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions." Since then, Obama has come under fire from some liberal activists for not doing enough to push through the current health care reform bills. Yet, a new Politico report issued today indicates that "in private meetings and chance encounters and during Air Force One flights, Obama has worked behind the scenes" to promote the current pro-abortion health care bills. House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, a top abortion advocate who is responsible for the Capps amendment that allows abortion funding in the new health care reform bill Speaker Nancy Pelosi unveiled last week, confirmed to Politico that Obama has been lobbying for the bills. House Health Care Bill Has Death Panels, Tax-Funded Assisted Suicide Promotion
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The new House health care reform bill unveiled last week by Speaker Nancy Pelosi contains more than the controversial "death panels" panned in the previous legislation. The new bill, H.R. 3962, contains direct taxpayer-funded promotion of assisted suicide in the states where it is currently legal. HR 3962 contains two clear end-of-life provisions -- including one that requires insurance companies to distribute advance directives and other planning tools to all who are insured on the new government-run exchange. The other allows Medicare reimbursement for optional end-of-life planning consultation. Both provisions appear to exclude assisted suicide from the consultations and advance directives, but those exclusions have no meaning in the Washington and Oregon (and possibly soon in Montana) where assisted suicides are legal. There, state law says that "death with dignity," the legal terms in those states for assisted suicide, does not actually constitute assisted suicide. In both states, state law says actions under the assisted suicide statute "shall not, for any purpose, constitute suicide, assisted suicide, mercy killing or homicide, under the law." Opposition to Pro-Abortion Health Care Bill Jumps After New Pelosi Bill Introduced
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Now that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has introduced the latest version of the government-run health care reform bill that funds abortions, the latest polling data shows opposition increasing. A Rasmussen Reports survey shows opposition up from 6 to percent since before the Pelosi bill. Rasmussen had opposition to the pro-abortion health care bill pegged at 51-45 percent during the latter part of October. Following the unveiling of the Pelosi bill, HR 3962, late last week, the number now stands at 54 percent opposed and 42 percent who favor the legislation. Only 23% of all voters Strongly Support the plan while nearly twice as many, 44 percent, remain strongly opposed. As has been the case for months, Democrats favor the plan while Republicans and voters not affiliated with either major party are opposed. The latest numbers show support from 69% of those in the presidents party. The plan is opposed by 80% of Republicans and a plurality, 48 percent, of unaffiliated voters. Full story at LifeNews.com
Elections in Virginia, New Jersey, New York Provide Opportunity for Pro-Life Gains
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The off-year elections in Virginia, New Jersey and New York provide the pro-life movement with an opportunity for pro-life gains. They also provide the first chance for voters to sound off on the pro-abortion record President Barack Obama has compiled since taking over the White House. The Virginia governor's race appears to be the one that will provide the most dividends for pro-life advocates. There, pro-life former Attorney general Bob McDonnell is taking on pro-abortion candidate Creigh Deeds. In New Jersey, the New Jersey Right to Life and National Right to Life PACs, along with pro-life leaders like Rep. Chris Smith and Deal Hudson, are behind Chris Christie as he takes on pro-abortion incumbent Gov. Jon Corzine. Polls have shown a true toss-up in the race in recent weeks -- complicated by the fact that pro-abortion independent candidate Christopher Daggett is getting the support in the high single digits. The pro-life choice in New York is Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman. He is running in the election to fill the seat in New York's 23rd congressional district left vacant when pro-abortion President Barack Obama selected pro-abortion Rep. Planned Parenthood Director in Texas Resigns, Watched Ultrasound of Abortion
 Bryan, TX (LifeNews.com) -- The director of a Texas-based Planned Parenthood has resigned her position saying that she has had a change of heart on abortion. The development highlights the powerful results ultrasounds have in convincing people of the humanity of the unborn child and the need to oppose abortions. Abby Johnson had been the director of the Planned Parenthood center in this college town, that is home to Texas A&M University, until she turned in her resignation on October 6. She tells KBTX that seeing an ultrasound instantaneously prompted her to quit. "I just thought I can't do this anymore, and it was just like a flash that hit me and I thought that's it," she said. In the interview, Johnson admitted that Planned Parenthood doesn't make its money on promoting contraception or family planning, but through abortion. "It seemed like maybe that's not what a lot of people were believing any more because that's not where the money was. Pro-Life Doctors Group: Pro-Abortion Health Care Bill Hurts Physicians, Patients
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The new health care reform legislation put forward by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi not only includes a new program that funds abortions with government money, but would also hurt doctors and patients. That's the message from a national organization for Christian and pro-life physicians. The 16,000-member Christian Medical Association, the nation's largest faith-based association of physicians, has problems with the 2,000-page healthcare overhaul bill (HR 3962). The group told LifeNews.com today that the measure far exceeds the need for targeted reforms, instead injecting massive government intervention that threatens the patient-physician relationship. "This legislation is an overdose. With this massive legislation, we are getting much more than is actually needed to fix our healthcare system," CMA director Dr. David Stevens explained. "What we need is a targeted reformation of areas needing reform, but this legislation is an attempt to totally transform our healthcare system into a government-run system that dictates what healthcare treatment each patient will receive." 40 Days for Life Pro-Life Campaign Concludes With 2,000 Abortions Prevented
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- The latest 40 Days for Life campaign has concluded and it reached an important milestone at the same time. Organizers of the national event, which sees pro-life advocates pray and help women heading to abortion centers find positive alternatives, has now helped prevent 2,000 abortions. "Through the grace and mercy of God -- and the faithful prayers of more than 200,000 volunteers standing vigil outside abortion facilities -- an incredible miracle has taken place," says national director David Bereit. "Starting with the first-ever 40 Days for Life campaign in Bryan/College Station, Texas in 2004, and continuing through the international 40 Days for Life effort that is under way this fall, we now have confirmed reports of at least 2,000 babies whose lives have been saved from the tragedy of abortion," Bereit explained. Kennedy Will Meet With Bishop Tobin After Saying Catholic Church Not Pro-Life
 Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Congressman Patrick Kennedy says he will meet with his Catholic bishop after saying that the Catholic Church is not pro-life because it opposes the health care bills in Congress over their government funding of abortions. Kennedy said that in an interview last week and was quickly rebuked by Bishop Thomas Tobin. Kennedy told CNS News in an interview that the Catholic Church is fanning the flames of dissent and discord by taking the position. You mean to tell me the Catholic Church is going to be denying those people life saving health care? I thought they were pro-life? he said. "If the church is pro-life, then they ought to be for health care reform because its going to provide health care that are going to keep people alive." Tobin called on Kennedy to issue an apology and said he is a "disappointment" because of his pro-abortion voting record. Now, Kennedy has accepted an invitation from Tobin to discuss the issue of health care reform and abortion. An AP article indicates no date has been set for the meeting.  Theatre at its best explores the depth of the human experience, showcasing both tragedy and triumph in well-chosen words and spellbinding performances. But it is a rare thing indeed for a modern play to accurately portray the trauma that is abortion. The Vitae Monologues does just that, piecing together the real-life testimonies of women and men who have gone through the agony of the abortion experience. Its hard not to be moved, seeing the anguish of a woman doubled over in emotional pain, or a man cradling an invisible baby. I had a chance to view the Vitae Monologues for the first time in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania as part of the plays current East Coast tour. The cast consists of just two people -- Jeremy and Sarah Stanbary, a husband-and-wife team who brilliantly capture the heartache that comes with abortion. Jeremy and Sarah manage to create a number of entirely believable characters who are trying to deal with the emotional fallout from their abortions. Full story at LifeNews.com
Illinois May Not Enforce Parental Notification Abortion Law ACLU Wants Overturned
 Springfield, IL (LifeNews.com) -- Illinois officials may not enforce the new parental notification on abortion law expected to take effect on Tuesday. They may lengthen the 90-day grace period they already gave abortion practitioners even though similar laws are in place in more than two dozen states across the country. The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation granted the initial temporary waiver in August and it may grant another one. Some pro-life advocates who have spoken with LifeNews.com about the ate of the parental notification measure -- which requires informing parents before an abortion can be done on a minor girl -- say it is a delay tactic. The delay is meant to hold up enforcement of the law until the ACLU, which has filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn it, gets a temporary injunction from a court to delay enforcement while its suit proceeds. IDFPR spokeswoman Susan Hofer told AP that the agency issued an extension last Friday and said the state's Medical Disciplinary Board meets on Wednesday to determine what steps to take next. Not content to run an operation that guides young women on how to avoid a parental notification law and have a secret abortion, the ACLU of Illinois filed a lawsuit last month seeking to overturn the statute.
